Analytics Data reveal High Street Retailers Traffic on Rise

Hitwise recently came out with a report on web traffic comparison between High Street Retailers and Online-Only Retailers. The outcome of the report suggests that people from UK were trusting High Street Retailers for Online Shopping over Online-Only Retailers.

Online high street retailers in the UK, such as Argos, Next, and Marks and Spencer, received 19.3% more UK Internet visits during July 2008 than the 100 largest online only retailers, such as Amazon, Play.com and ASOS.

4Q Free Survey Tool goes global with 16 Languages

iPerceptions Inc. announced today that 4Q its free, permission-based survey solution developed with well-known Web Analytics blogger Avinash Kaushik, is going global with support for 16 languages. Companies of all sizes can now use 4Q to reach out to web site visitors in any part of the world, capture their feedback and use their insights to improve the online customer experience.

Google Search Engines U.S Usage rises to 70%

Google Web Search usage continues to dominate the US market with its share reaching close to 70% (69.17%). Yahoo! occupies the second place with 19.62%, MSN and Ask.com occupying the third and fourth place with 5.46% & 4.17%.

The other search engines accounted for 1.70% of US Search Market, nearly 42 search engines are within the other search engines category. Google also maintains a solid market in U.K with 87% (10% increase since June 2007).

AVG Resolves LinkScanner Issues

AVG Anti-Virus LogoWeb Analytics Vendors and Practitioners have been reporting about the AVG LinkScanner’s attempts in generating fake Internet traffic. AVG rolled out its latest version (v8.0) last month which was downloaded by 20+ million people, AVG LinkScanner searches for website that might contain malware or virus that might affect people by running at background by visiting each website listed in Google’s SERP (Search Engine Result Pages).

The fake traffic or traffic that these bots generated increased upto 30% to 50% as reported by numerous webmasters, the news was recently featured at The Register which attracted an active discussion in comment section with officials from AVG responding to many comments from Web Masters.

While many Web Analysts and Web Masters came out with a fix that could temporarily block of the fake traffic, there was no official fix from AVG until couple of days back when the official press release came out.
